Successful applicants will receive a competitive salary while working full-time at the IMF Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Throughout the two-year program, Research Analysts gain practical experience in economic research, policy analysis, data management, and quantitative modeling under the mentorship of experienced IMF economists.

Participants also develop advanced research, programming, and analytical skills, expand their international professional networks, and strengthen their preparation for graduate studies or careers in international organizations, central banks, research institutions, and government agencies. Many former participants have gone on to top universities and influential policy and research positions.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have recently completed a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, computer science, data science, or another closely related quantitative discipline. Candidates should have an outstanding academic record, typically with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5/4.0 or equivalent.

Applicants should demonstrate strong analytical, quantitative, and research abilities, be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in teams, and possess proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with programming languages, statistical software, or econometric tools is considered an advantage. The program welcomes applications from qualified candidates worldwide.
