PAID FELLOWSHIP: Apply for the Incubator for Media Education and Development Young Journalists Programme 2025 for young journalists (fully funded to Greece)

Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 Young Journalists Program, organized by the Incubator for Media Education and Development (iMEdD). This opportunity is ideal for aspiring reporters eager to push the boundaries of independent journalism. Hosted in Athens, Greece, this full-time paid fellowship offers early-career journalists a one- or two-year immersive experience inside iMEdD’s dynamic non-profit newsroom. The program invites fresh graduates from across the globe to work on meaningful stories that prioritize truth, transparency, and creativity.

Participants will engage directly in field reporting, covering both domestic and international stories. From political investigations to international conflict coverage, fellows will be mentored by experienced professionals while building their skills through hands-on assignments. With a strong emphasis on digital-first storytelling, fellows will also develop news content tailored for online audiences, including multimedia projects and video reports. Moreover, the program encourages experimentation with immersive technologies such as augmented and virtual reality to redefine how audiences engage with news.

Journalists in the program will have the opportunity to work with data-driven storytelling tools and will be trained in using modern AI and broadcast technologies to enhance their reporting. In addition to technical skills, participants will be expected to take an active role in presenting and publishing their own stories across multiple platforms. By the end of their fellowship, fellows will have a robust personal portfolio of published work that reflects their growth and unique voice in journalism.

This initiative welcomes recent university graduates—those who completed their studies within the last 18 months (from October 2023)—as well as students in their final year, regardless of their country of origin. While fluency in English is essential, knowledge of Greek is not a requirement. Previous newsroom experience is not necessary, but applicants should demonstrate a strong drive to produce responsible, impactful journalism and be open to relocating to Athens to join an innovative media environment.

Successful candidates will benefit from a supportive newsroom culture that champions independence and forward-thinking practices. The program offers mentorship from top-tier journalists, opportunities to report abroad, access to advanced media production resources, and a collaborative atmosphere that encourages creative freedom. Relocation assistance will also be provided to eligible participants.

The application process began on March 29 and will close on July 31. Interviews will take place between June and August 2025, and the program officially begins in January 2026.
