PAID FELLOWSHIP: Apply for the Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship 2026/27 for young innovators

Applications are now being accepted for the 2026–2027 cohort of the Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship. This prestigious 10-month, full-time program is designed to mentor and train forward-thinking professionals in the art and science of developing impactful healthcare solutions. Through a structured, hands-on approach, participants learn to identify significant unmet clinical needs, create innovative solutions spanning medical devices, diagnostics, digital health, drug delivery systems, and biotech, and ultimately explore effective pathways to bring these innovations into the healthcare ecosystem—whether through startups, established companies, or other strategic routes.

The program welcomes candidates who hold advanced degrees or possess meaningful experience in fields such as engineering, biomedical sciences, computing, business, product development, medicine, nursing, or law. Selection hinges on each applicant’s professional background, commitment to solving healthcare challenges, and their potential to thrive as pioneers in the health technology sector.

Fellows in the program receive a monthly living stipend of at least $6,150, along with a one-time payment of $1,250 to support initial program expenses. This financial package is structured to cover essential living costs throughout the fellowship duration. Additionally, fellows have access to Stanford’s comprehensive health insurance plans, which may extend to their spouses and dependents. Coverage typically includes medical, dental, vision, mental wellness services, and parental leave benefits, tailored according to the fellow’s appointment type.

The fellowship is based at Stanford University’s James H. Clark Center, a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. The clinical research and fieldwork elements of the program are conducted through Stanford Health Care and other healthcare environments that span various points in the patient care journey. The experience begins in early August and concludes in June the following year, offering fellows a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a world-class innovation ecosystem while addressing some of the most pressing issues in global health.
