PAID HYBRID FELLOWSHIP : Apply for the Science and Technology Policy Fellowship 2026

Applications are open for the Science and Technology Policy Fellowship 2026, a competitive training programme designed to help science and technology professionals understand how to influence public policy and social change.

The fellowship will run from 1–26 June 2026 in a hybrid format, with the first two weeks conducted online and the final two weeks hosted in person at Tides Converge in San Francisco, United States. Fellows who choose to participate in the optional final project phase will continue remotely from 29 June to 24 August 2026.

This programme is designed for individuals with backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, environment, or related fields who want to explore how their expertise can shape policy discussions and decision-making.

Programme Structure

The fellowship consists of two phases:

  1. Policy Bootcamp (Full-Time, June 1–26):
    Participants will learn the fundamentals of policymaking, stakeholder engagement, and policy communication through interactive classes and practical exercises, including writing policy memos and delivering policy pitches.

  2. Optional Final Project (Remote, Part-Time):
    Fellows may work on a policy-focused project, such as drafting regulations, writing white papers, developing toolkits, or creating digital tools for policymakers. Selected projects may be published or presented during future demo events.

While all STEM professionals are encouraged to apply, priority will be given to candidates working in:

  • Emerging technologies (e.g., AI, quantum computing, autonomous systems)

  • Cybersecurity

  • Environmental and climate-related fields

Program Benefits
Selected fellows will receive:

- A USD 5,000 stipend for participation in the full-time policy bootcamp

- An additional USD 2,500 stipend for completing the optional final project

- Extra awards for top projects, including publication bonuses and presentation stipends
Eligibility Criteria
- Be at least 21 years old

- Be based in and legally able to work in the United States

- Have significant professional experience in science, technology, engineering, environment, or related STEM fields

- Be fluent in English and able to commit full-time during the bootcamp period

- Be available to reside in the Bay Area for the in-person component of the programme
