To support the External Affairs team in interacting with national and international governments, organisations, and other relevant parties with the pressing matter of climate adaptation, GCA is looking for an intern. The position would be ideal for someone who is proactive, well-organized, politically astute, and has a track record of being interested in international development, international relations, and climate policy.
Concerning GCA
The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) is a global organisation that serves as a broker of solutions, energising support and action for adaptation strategies from the global to the local, in collaboration with the public and private sectors, to guarantee that we share knowledge and collaborate for a future resilient to climate change. There are "win-win" outcomes from adapting to the effects of climate change for human security, livelihoods, food security, water supply, health, and economic growth. The GCA's work increases the political significance and visibility of climate adaptation while facilitating solutions including more prudent investment decisions, innovative technology, and improved planning to increase one's resistance to hazards associated with climate change. With operations in Abidjan, Beijing, Dhaka, Groningen, and its worldwide headquarters in Rotterdam, GCA is a fast expanding organisation.

The three pillars of GCA's ambitious 2020–2025 business plan are as follows:

Food Security, Water for Urban Growth and Resilience, Climate Finance, Using Nature for More Robust Infrastructure, and Youth Leadership Research for Impact: Increasing global knowledge about adaptation with innovative products like the Knowledge Exchange Platform Agenda and the State and Trends in Adaptation Report Setting and Promoting: creating policy statements that advance the agendas for local, regional, and global adaptation.

The External Affairs Intern will work within the team to deliver high-level events and partnerships, managing relationships with governments and international organizations. Responsibilities include preparing political summits, drafting briefings, attending meetings with stakeholders, monitoring climate news, providing horizon-scanning, assisting with communications, and managing GCA's extensive list of stakeholders and contacts.
