Paid Internship : Join Green Climate Fund as an OGC Intern

The largest international climate fund in the world, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), invests in initiatives and programmes that have a significant global impact on developing nations through innovation and catalysis. By the end of 2023, GCF had committed a total of USD 13.5 billion to managing a portfolio of 243 projects spread across 129 countries. With USD 12.8 billion more committed for the 2024–2027 new strategic and programming cycle, GCF hopes to reach at least USD 50 billion in fund size by 2030. The goal of the fund is to mobilise financial flows from the public and private sectors for climate action, with a particular emphasis on the most vulnerable communities and the development of creative partnerships for significant effect.

GCF is seeking an exceptional person with a track record of utilising networks, energy, and experience to address challenging global climate change issues. The ideal applicant will be able to adapt well to a fast-paced, diversified work environment and will be dedicated to using a mission-driven role to make a meaningful, quantifiable difference.

The Office of the General Counsel will get administrative and operational help from the OGC Intern. This position provides a great chance to gain knowledge and experience in institutional (such as public international law) and project (such as international project finance in the public and private sectors) areas.

The role involves conducting research and analysis on GCF's legal implications, creating legal records, managing knowledge, and providing ad hoc legal assistance as needed.

Eligibility Criteria
Education: Presently enrolled in or just finished a Master's or Juris Doctoral programme in environmental law, finance law, public international law, or other related disciplines.
Experience: It is beneficial to have understanding of public international law and international project finance, as well as experience working in an in-house legal department or law firm.
Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook. outstanding communication and presenting abilities.
Languages: English proficiency is required; familiarity with another UN language, particularly French or Spanish, is advantageous.
