Do you have a strong desire to support the worldwide effort to combat HIV/AIDS? Within its Data for Impact (DFI) Practice, UNAIDS is providing an excellent internship opportunity. Working with a varied team of experts, you will analyse programme and epidemiological data, assist with the compilation of the 2024 Global AIDS Update Report, and play a critical role as an intern.

An Overview of UNAIDS Data for Impact Management: The Data for Impact Practice at UNAIDS is responsible for managing the gathering, examination, and distribution of vital programme and epidemiological data pertaining to the HIV response. The data collected is crucial to producing the Global AIDS Update Report, which is a frequently used tool for funding, programming, and advocacy in the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

In addition to developing the 2024 Global AIDS Update Report, the UNAIDS Technical Officer, Programme Monitoring and Reporting, oversees an internship programme that includes data review and visualisation, analysis of HIV infection trends, factsheet compilation, PowerPoint slide creation, and feature story development. Working with the report writing team, monitoring file versions, and supporting the copyediting and design processes are all part of the job description.

Essential Requirements:

Holding a postgraduate degree in public health, epidemiology, international relations, or a similar discipline, or having recently finished one.
Proficiency in UNAIDS principles, dedication to the fight against AIDS, honesty, and tolerance for differences.

Teamwork, impact communication, application of expertise, outcomes delivery, innovation, accountability, strong research skills, analytical ability, and fluency in English, French, Spanish, or Russian are examples of core competences.
