Join The Iris Project's dynamic team as a youth Advisor and play a crucial role in empowering the next generation of environmental leaders. We're seeking a dedicated individual under 30 to collaborate with our diverse Advisory Panel, comprising climate activists from around the world.
As an Advisor, you'll:
- Contribute to a global network of organizations and experts
- Help identify and support emerging environmental leaders through the annual Iris Prize
- Develop valuable leadership, mentoring, and skill-building experience in areas like monitoring and evaluation, communications, and capacity-building
To be eligible, you must:
- Be under 30 years old
- Be based in Southern Africa, West Africa, North Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, or Central Asia
- Have proven experience in environmental stewardship, active land management, and climate activism
- Possess excellent written and verbal English skills, with additional language skills (Spanish, French, Portuguese, or Arabic) being beneficial
As an Advisor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Outreach and awareness-raising for The Iris Project and the Iris Prize
- Reviewing and assessing Iris Prize applications, conducting interviews, and creating the final shortlist
- Mentoring Prize Winners in grant management, project development, and impact evaluation
- Collaborating with the core team to manage community connections, organize events, and share learnings
- Adhering to safeguarding standards and completing required training
The time commitment involves:
- A minimum two-year term with a stipend
- Approximately two days per month, including a bi-monthly all-panel meeting
- Availability during peak periods, including the prize review process in May
