Applications are now open for the Environmental Justice in Tech Fellowship Summer 2026, an international remote program hosted by Rooted Futures Lab. The fellowship brings together emerging researchers, educators, creatives, and changemakers exploring how technology can advance environmental justice and social equity.

Designed as a short-term, intensive learning experience, the program equips participants with practical skills, mentorship support, and space to develop independent projects addressing real-world challenges at the intersection of climate justice, innovation, and digital inclusion.

About the Fellowship

The Environmental Justice & Technology (EJIT) Fellowship runs for approximately 12 weeks and takes place entirely online, allowing global participation.

Throughout the program, fellows collaborate with peers and mentors while producing research, educational resources, or creative outputs that examine how technology can better serve communities and ecosystems. Participants are encouraged to explore themes such as climate justice, responsible innovation, data governance, and digital storytelling.

The fellowship emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, welcoming participants from both technical and non-technical backgrounds.

Fellowship Structure

Participants will:

  • Join mentorship sessions and collaborative learning activities
  • Develop a self-directed project aligned with fellowship themes
