We are seeking a Czech-speaking researcher to support the implementation and evaluation of the Energy Literacy for Youth (ELY) project in Czechia. This remote role requires 10 days of work (full-time equivalent) by March 31, 2025.

About the Project

The ELY project is a 31-month initiative funded by ERASMUS+ aimed at empowering young people to take an active role in addressing climate change and promoting renewable energy. The project seeks to engage marginalized youth across Poland, Czechia, Cyprus, Denmark, and Germany through a flexible energy literacy curriculum.

Position Objective

The researcher will contribute to the design and execution of participatory research focused on marginalized youth in Czechia. The research will inform and adapt the energy literacy curriculum to the local socio-cultural context, identifying key marginalized groups, understanding their needs and barriers, and strategizing engagement to ensure inclusivity and impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Mapping Marginalized Youth: Identify Czech-based NGOs working with marginalized youth, and build relationships with local stakeholders.
• Participatory Research: Organize and facilitate participatory research events with marginalized youth, employing tailored methods to gather insights on local energy literacy needs and barriers.
• Data Collection & Analysis: Collect qualitative and quantitative data through participatory methods, analyze results, and provide actionable recommendations for curriculum adaptation.
• Reporting: Produce a comprehensive report in English summarizing research findings and their implications for adapting the energy literacy curriculum.

Deliverables

• A mapping report of marginalized youth groups in Czechia (2 days FTE).
• Organizing and facilitating a research event with marginalized youth (5 days FTE).
• A final report summarizing participatory research findings (3 days FTE).

Ideal Candidate

• Fluency in Czech (spoken and written) is mandatory, and proficiency in English is required.
• Must be under 35 years old and currently residing in Czechia.
• Strong background in social sciences, education, environmental studies, or a related field.
• Understanding of youth engagement, climate change, and renewable energy topics.
• Experience with participatory research methods is highly desirable.
• Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, especially marginalized youth.

Additional Assets

• Proven experience with participatory research methods.
• Personal or professional connections with marginalized communities in Czechia.
