Applications are open for young professionals interested in using storytelling and communication to advance biodiversity action. The Communication and Storytelling Fellowship under the Global Youth Biodiversity Network Transformative Futures Fellowship invites applicants to contribute to global environmental advocacy while strengthening their creative and strategic communication skills.
This remote fellowship runs from May to December 2026 and offers a chance to work within an international youth network actively engaged in biodiversity governance and policy processes.
About the Fellowship
The programme is designed to support emerging communicators and storytellers in amplifying youth voices within biodiversity and sustainability spaces. Fellows will engage in real-world communication efforts while receiving mentorship and participating in collaborative learning experiences.
Through this initiative, participants will help shape narratives around environmental protection, youth engagement, and global policy discussions—particularly within frameworks like the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Role Overview
The selected fellow will contribute to strengthening GYBN’s communication presence by transforming complex environmental topics into accessible and engaging content.
This includes:

Supporting global communication strategies and campaigns

Creating and managing content for social media, websites, and newsletters

Documenting youth-led initiatives and biodiversity actions

Conducting interviews and capturing stories from community members

Translating policy updates into youth-friendly formats
Key Focus Areas
1. Content Creation & Strategy

Develop engaging multimedia and written content

Support campaigns around global environmental events (e.g., Biodiversity Day, COP meetings)
2. Storytelling & Narrative Building

Highlight real stories from youth in biodiversity work

Shape narratives that reflect diversity, inclusion, and shared values
3. Ethical Communication

Ensure respectful, inclusive, and culturally sensitive storytelling

Promote responsible communication practices across platforms
Duration & Commitment

Workload: Approximately 20–25 hours per week

Additional Information
