Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is an Indigenous-led organization guided by a diverse group of Indigenous knowledge keepers, water protectors and land defenders from communities and regions across the country. We believe that Indigenous Peoples’ rights and knowledge systems are critical to developing solutions to the climate crisis and achieving climate justice.

1. Communications Manager

To create and oversee ICA's public relations and communications, Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is looking for a communications manager. In addition to requiring a thorough awareness of Indigenous rights and climate justice, the role entails building relationships with communities via internet channels.

Indigenous persons in Canada are given precedence for the remote position. In addition to managing coordinators of communications and creating plans for other ICA projects, the Communications Manager will be accountable to the Director of Communications and Engagement.

Strong grasp of a variety of communication techniques, such as project management, graphic design, online communications, social media analytics, and engaging techniques, are prerequisites for the role.

A strategic communications plan must be developed, personnel must be hired and managed, communication work plans must be supervised, ICA's messaging and brand presentation must be managed across media platforms, and correspondence with various climate and environmental justice websites and newsletters must be maintained. In addition, the job entails fostering and interacting with followers on social media, forming collaborations with traditional media, and sustaining constructive partnership ties.

The requirements include a post-secondary degree in communication, five years of experience in planning and coordinating communications, graphic design expertise, experience managing employees and contractors, and a thorough understanding of websites related to the environment and climate change, social media, newsletters, listservs, and social media success.

2.Executive manager

To lead the Executive Director and Associate Director, Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is looking for a driven and aspirational executive manager.

This is a remote, work-from-home position that will focus on Indigenous people in Canada and inspire action through opportunities and tools that support sovereignty and stewardship of lands and waters for future generations.

The executive, administrative, and governance assistance for the leadership team falls within the purview of the Executive Manager to the Executive Director and Associate Director. They will collaborate with ICA Directors throughout the ICA Pods and function as the main point of contact for both internal and external questions.

Excellent organisational and time management skills, as well as prior experience working with Indigenous-led organisations that oppose capitalism, white supremacist, patriarchy, and colonialism, are prerequisites for this position.

Coordination of strategic planning, monitoring and assessment of operations, and joint work on private administrative assistance are among the duties. Additionally, the candidate should support the needs for research and development, crucial communication, and the ability to stand in for ED/AD as necessary.
