The United Nations Joint SDG Fund is hiring a Youth Engagement Associate ( JOB OPPORTUNITY  )

Mission and Objectives : The Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office (MPTFO) serves as a UN hub specializing in pooled financing mechanisms. It enhances development effectiveness and UN coordination by designing and managing innovative pooled financing solutions in an efficient, accountable, and transparent manner.

Context
This UNV position supports the MPTFO/UN Joint SDG Fund's initiatives to boost youth engagement, a vital component for achieving the SDGs globally. The Joint SDG Fund seeks to empower young people to become agents of change by understanding the challenges faced by vulnerable, marginalized adolescents. It aims to unite governments, civil society, donors, the private sector, and youth-led organizations in advocating for increased investment in youth as a key development priority. The UNV will work closely with the Fund's communications team to enhance meaningful youth engagement.

Task Description
Under the direction of the Head of Communications, Joint SDG Fund, the National Youth Volunteer will:

- Develop a roadmap for youth engagement within the Joint SDG Fund.
- Assist in creating key activities and initiatives for youth engagement in joint programmes (JPs).
- Establish and coordinate partnerships with key organizations such as the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, UNICEF Voices of Youth, YOUNGO, and UNITE 2030.
- Create and manage a youth advocacy hub, engaging youth bloggers and content creators to contribute to the Fund’s youth corner.
- Organize youth advocacy workshops in collaboration with the advocacy hub and JP interns.
- Develop the Joint Programmes internship program for the Fund.
- Identify, develop, and review youth-focused human-interest stories and communication assets from the JPs for publication on the Fund’s website and social media channels.
- Plan and manage key youth-led events for the Fund, including International Youth Day, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) Youth SDGs Summit, and COP-28.
- Create, manage, and maintain an active network of youth volunteers and partners, organizing regular communications and sharing information on youth engagement for the SDGs.
- Identify opportunities to develop intergenerational solutions centered around youth, contributing to the 2030 agenda through various youth-led events such as the UNGA Youth SDGs Summit.
- Design and implement the Youth SDGs Leaders Program for the Fund.
- Coordinate with partner organizations and JPs to organize speakers and experts for the Youth SDGs Leaders Program.
- Organize a hackathon for young SDGs leaders in collaboration with key youth partners, the advocacy hub, and JP interns.
- Support the creation of social media content for all youth-related events and initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities
UN Volunteers are encouraged to incorporate UNV's mission into their assignments and promote volunteerism within communities during their work. They should allocate part of their time to the following activities:

- Demonstrating proven outreach and engagement skills, including partnership development, implementation, and management.
- Building capacity to work collaboratively with partners, networks, governments, communities, and youth.
- Familiarity with social media platforms.
- Understanding the United Nations system and its programs is advantageous.
- Possessing strong oral and written communication skills, with a focus on drafting, formulation, and reporting.
- Maintaining accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.
- Exhibiting excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work inclusively with diverse partners, including grassroots communities, religious and youth organizations, and various authorities.
- Adapting professionally and effectively in challenging environments and working effectively in multicultural teams.
- Demonstrating solid computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office applications, database management, and office technology.
- Being self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision, and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Maintaining strong security awareness.
- Having a strong affinity for or interest in the work of the UN Joint SDG Fund, volunteerism as a tool for sustainable development, and the broader UN System.

Eligibility Criteria
- Age: 18 to 80 years old.
- Nationality: Must be a national or legal resident of the country where the assignment is based.
- Experience: At least 2 years in a youth network or NGO, preferably in youth engagement.
- Expertise: Development programs.
- Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish (required), working knowledge of French (desirable).
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in international relations, law, public policy, social sciences, or a related field.
