The Keeling Curve Prize, a flagship initiative of The Global Warming Mitigation Project, annually grants $50,000 to 10 global projects showcasing the capacity to mitigate greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and oceans by reduction, replacement, or removal. Beyond its financial aspect, the prize serves as a catalyst for the growth of numerous climate leaders, propelling them to make significant and enduring emissions reductions worldwide.
The award spans across various categories:
- Carbon Sinks: Activating natural and/or engineered systems for carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration.
- Energy: Decarbonizing energy, supporting zero-carbon innovations, and leading advancements in low or zero-emissions energy systems globally.
- Finance: Making economics and financial mechanisms conducive to heat-trapping gas reduction and reversal ventures.
- Social & Cultural Pathways: Transforming how people perceive, comprehend, and respond to humanity's impacts on Earth's livability.
- Transport & Mobility: Innovating vehicles, fuels, and mobility options to address the carbon footprint of both vehicles and travel routes.

Additional Information
Applications must be submitted in English, and while online translation tools are encouraged for accuracy, responsibility for translation lies with the applicant. Projects aligning with multiple prize categories are allowed, but winning is restricted to one category per applicant per year.
Past applicants are encouraged to reapply, but previous prize winners can only submit applications for new projects that significantly differ from their awarded project. Applications should quantify emissions reductions and address project scalability to be considered.
By submitting an application, permission is granted to the Global Warming Mitigation Project to disseminate information about the project at its discretion. High-scoring applicants, regardless of winning, may be included in the Climate Impact Conduit database unless they choose to opt out. Requests for confidentiality can be specified within the application.
