All UN member states are invited by WSA to submit nominations for the global prize for their best local digital solutions.

WSA chooses and supports regional digital innovation that advances society. It is an international network-based non-monetary award system that emphasises long-term knowledge transmission. Instead of receiving a one-time cash payout, winners gain a lifetime of integration and partnership.

Classifications

WSA categories are revised frequently to align with the evolving UN Goals and mirror the UN WSIS action lines. The following are the categories for the WSA 2023 edition:

Rules:

WSA seeks digital applications that create significant societal impact within one of its 8 categories, focusing on the product's content depth, strategic importance, and local influence. By submitting a project, producers agree to the WSA contest rules as outlined on this page and within the WSA Contest Database.

All participants must adhere to the principles outlined in the UN Declaration on Human Rights. Submissions promoting war, violence, fraud, racism, or discrimination will be disqualified, as will those that infringe on international copyright laws.

WSA holds no liability for the accepted submissions, their content, or associated rights.

Eligibility Criteria

**Producers:** Nominations are open to any company, organization, or individual from all UN and UNESCO member states.

**Solutions:** The WSA (World Summit Awards) focuses exclusively on digital solutions that offer significant societal benefits and have a strong local impact. Eligible nominations can include a variety of digital formats such as mobile applications, SMS-based products, websites, databases, kiosks, wearables, devices, IoT solutions, etc. There are no restrictions on the platforms or channels used by the projects.

To qualify, projects must be no more than three years old at the time of nomination or must have undergone significant updates, upgrades, or innovations within the past two years. Only market-ready solutions or those already available on the market will be accepted; concepts, drafts, or prototypes are not eligible. The WSA evaluates digital solutions based on their content, user value, and local impact.
