Urgent Action Fund (UAF-Africa) is a feminist, Pan-African rapid response fund dedicated to reshaping power dynamics by supporting African feminists and women’s human rights defenders as a form of solidarity. As part of the broader feminist and women's movements in Africa and globally, we are bold, courageous, and proactive.

As a rapid response fund, we prioritize the immediate and critical needs of women in various movements. Registered in Kenya and Zimbabwe, and functioning as a virtual organization, UAF-Africa operates across all five regions of Africa: East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia), North Africa (Egypt), Central Africa, Southern Africa (Zimbabwe, Malawi, Madagascar, South Africa), and West Africa (Nigeria, Benin, Cameroon, Togo).

UAF-Africa recognizes the importance of quickly mobilizing resources in response to rapidly changing opportunities and challenges across the continent. To this end, we utilize a Rapid Response Grant-making mechanism to support unforeseen, time-sensitive, and innovative initiatives. These initiatives focus on advancing women's leadership in democratic governance, economic, environmental, and climate justice, natural resource governance, and conflict transformation, while safeguarding their rights, integrity, and well-being.
