The FoodTech Challenge 3.0, a global competition aimed at discovering early-stage, technology-driven solutions to transform food systems in arid and challenging climates, is now accepting applications. Organized by Tamkeen Abu Dhabi LLC in collaboration with the UAE International Affairs Office of the Presidential Court, this competition provides four visionary winners the chance to further develop their innovations in the UAE and the Global South.
Focus Areas
1. Food & Water: Innovations that optimize water use in agriculture, protein production, and food processing, improve drought resilience, and boost crop yields in arid conditions.
2. Food & Energy: Technologies that reduce the carbon footprint of food production by enhancing energy efficiency across the supply chain.
3. Food Loss & Waste: Solutions that minimize food loss through better collection, processing, storage, and distribution, as well as addressing consumer behavior to cut waste and reduce emissions from decomposing food.

Additional Information
- Cash Prize: Each winner will receive $100,000 to support their startup’s growth.
- UAE-Focused Grants: $200,000 for each winner to further develop and implement their solutions in the UAE within the first year, supported by local partners such as the Emirates Foundation and Silal.
- Global South-Focused Grants: An additional $200,000 will be awarded to each winner to implement their solutions in Global South markets in the second year, with backing from partners like the Gates Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative.
- In-kind Support: Includes access to acceleration programs and pro bono legal assistance from partners such as Hub71, Sheraa, and Al Tamimi & Company.
- Finalist Prize: Finalists will receive $15,000 and networking opportunities to collaborate with FoodTech Challenge partners.
Have a minimum viable product or solution.
Be founded after January 1, 2019 (less than five years old).
Have fewer than 25 employees.
Have not raised Series A funding.
Address one of the competition's focus areas: Food & Water, Food & Energy, or Food Loss & Waste.
