The IKI provides funding for projects up to a maximum of EUR 20 million, with a funding volume of EUR 5 million.

Non-governmental organizations, universities, research institutions, international intergovernmental organizations, UN programs, private companies, and economic sector and trade associations are eligible for IKI funding. Governments are generally non-eligible, except in justified cases if essential for project success. Legally independent, state-owned companies providing general interest services do not fall under this condition. Exceptions may be made in justified cases.
