Job Overview
GIZ has been tasked by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union to execute the Joint Action “Migration, Jobs, and Development.” The initiative seeks to provide support for economic and social reintegration for returnees and jobseekers, strengthen employment promotion institutions, engage diaspora organizations, explore legal migration pathways, and build regional employment networks.
Part of this initiative involves the establishment of a “Study in Europe” Desk at the Ghanaian European Centre (GEC), which offers information on studying in Europe and scholarship opportunities. It also includes creating a network of International Desks across 30 universities. The intern will support the Study in Europe advisor with implementation tasks, knowledge management, and communication efforts, including social media outreach.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist with the following activities:
•Supporting management with operational tasks, including meeting preparation, workflow coordination, and minute-taking.
•Conducting research, processing information, and assisting with technical evaluations.
•Assisting with editorial planning and shaping communication content while monitoring communication platforms.
•Creating articles and social media posts to engage and inform audiences.
•Participating in outreach events across Ghana to promote studying abroad.
•Contributing to knowledge management by onboarding and using new tools and strategies.
Candidate Profile
•Enrolled in at least the sixth semester or recently graduated in Communications, International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, Business Administration, or related fields.
•Interested in international mobility programs and studying abroad initiatives.
•Familiarity with Erasmus and other international exchange programs is an asset.
•Knowledge of labor and educational migration topics is preferred.
•Strong strategic thinking, organizational abilities, and communication skills.
•Prior experience in content creation for social media, articles, and web platforms.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and familiarity with LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
•Advanced skills in English and German (minimum C1 level).
Additional Information
The security environment in the region is generally stable. GIZ staff are required to follow all security protocols. Detailed country-specific information can be obtained from the German Federal Foreign Office. Security support is available through the local GIZ office.
This internship is open only to students currently enrolled or those who graduated within the past six months before the start date. The monthly stipend is €2,134.52 (gross), with an additional expatriation allowance based on the country of assignment.
