Funding : Join the Alberta Civil Society Emerging Leaders Microgrant Program – Apply now

ACSEL aims to promote the civic engagement of Alberta youth by offering Canada Service Corps alumni (aged 16 to 30) the resources and support to create new or improve existing community-based projects from April 2024 to March 2025.

Objective
The program's goal is to empower Canada Service Corps alumni to develop their community initiatives and strengthen their involvement through effective project management, responsible implementation, and inclusive collaboration.

The program offers participants:

  • A platform to develop leadership skills while learning about community work and project management fundamentals (such as marketing, budgeting, and operational planning).
  • The opportunity to learn and grow alongside individuals dedicated to making a positive community impact.
  • Access to grant funding to support project planning and execution.

Each service project must have a designated project lead who is responsible for submitting the application and receiving the grant. Project leads must be committed to attending program check-ins and completing the required learning sessions.

What are the commitments of the program?
Apart from carrying out your project, the primary program commitments include educational opportunities. Approximately thirty hours are dedicated to the program. In addition to carrying out the project, there are required learning sessions, at least two check-ins throughout the program, and networking opportunities with peers and community partners.
