The Political, Press, and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Botswana is offering a six-month traineeship, commencing in March 2025, contingent on funding availability. This opportunity provides a dynamic and enriching professional experience within a multicultural and international setting, guided by a dedicated Trainee Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
•Conduct in-depth research on topics related to politics, human rights, economics, and society, contributing to various reports, such as meeting summaries and political briefings, to elevate the EU’s profile in Botswana and the SADC region.
•Monitor and analyze political, social, economic, and security trends in Botswana and the broader SADC area.
•Support the preparation of briefings, events, and meetings, ensuring smooth execution and effective outcomes.
•Assist in the development, translation, and compilation of communication materials as part of the Delegation’s media and public relations strategies. This includes crafting social media content and contributing to campaigns, exhibitions, and other awareness-raising activities.
•Help foster relationships with stakeholders, including academics, civil society organizations, and members of the local press.
•Provide general support to the Political, Press, and Information Section as required.
Desired Profile:
•Exceptional proficiency in written and spoken English.
•Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
•Knowledge of EU foreign policy and international relations, with prior experience in a diplomatic or similar environment considered an advantage.
•Background in media, social media, or press-related work is beneficial.
•Adaptability to multicultural settings and strong interpersonal skills.
•A proactive attitude, ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and enthusiasm for learning.
•Resilience and ability to perform effectively under pressure.
•Advanced drafting and analytical capabilities.
•Competence in using Microsoft Office tools efficiently.
