Apply for the Women in News Global Leadership Accelerator Programme 2025 for women in media
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2025 edition of the Women in News Global Leadership Accelerator. This unique program offers a powerful development experience for emerging newsroom leaders—especially those working in regions experiencing transition, instability, or underrepresentation. It is aimed at empowering mid-career journalists and editors who are ready to step into more influential roles within the media sector.
Eligible candidates are expected to have between five to ten years of hands-on experience working in a newsroom environment, whether as reporters, correspondents, or editors. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to the media industry, especially in advancing gender equity, inclusion, and safeguarding press freedom. The program is specifically intended for women or individuals from traditionally marginalized or high-risk communities, particularly those living outside the regions typically covered by WIN’s initiatives. A good command of both spoken and written English is essential, as the sessions will be conducted in the language. Participants must also be able to consistently dedicate between one to two hours weekly for the duration of the 21-week program, with attendance being critical to completing the training.
Those who complete the program will receive a formal certificate from WAN-IFRA, recognizing their professional development. Beyond structured training on newsroom leadership and media management, participants will be paired with a certified coach for personalized guidance. These one-on-one sessions are designed to help them build a clear vision and actionable plan for their career trajectory over the next three to five years, while also connecting them with a supportive global community of fellow media professionals.
