Fully Funded : Apply for the SUNx Malta Climate Friendly Travel Diploma scholarships
With the support of Malta's Ministry for Tourism and Consumer Protection, alongside the Institute of Tourism Studies in Malta, SUNx Malta is offering 50 scholarships for its Climate Friendly Travel (CFT) Diploma program.
A significant portion of these scholarships is designated for individuals from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), as defined by the United Nations, while the remaining opportunities are reserved for applicants from other developing nations. This diploma program is designed to equip recent graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to become Climate Friendly Travel Champions.
Graduates will help establish and lead local CFT Chapters in their respective countries. These Chapters will focus on two core activities: assisting organizations and communities in developing Climate Action Plans through the CFT Registry, and delivering the Climate Friendly Travel 5-day training sessions to promote sustainable travel practices.
Program Overview
Participants will gain insights into why climate change remains a pressing global concern, particularly in its influence on the travel and tourism industry.
The curriculum explores the evolution of climate science and examines how environmental shifts are affecting key sectors such as transportation, hospitality, and destination-based services.
Learners will be introduced to both theoretical foundations and practical applications of green development, including alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The program covers the core principles of Climate Friendly Travel, illustrating how these practices can drive the tourism sector toward meeting carbon reduction targets set by the Paris Agreement.
Additionally, it delves into Europe’s Green Deal and other emerging green policy frameworks across various regions.
Finally, participants will examine how advancements in clean energy are reshaping hotel operations and leisure facilities, while also considering how transportation systems can evolve to support climate-friendly growth.
