Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 fellowship cycle at Harvard University’s Radcliffe Institute. This program brings together outstanding individuals—including researchers, authors, creatives, and public thinkers—who are driving impactful work in their areas of expertise and contributing meaningfully to broader conversations in society. Selected fellows become part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment designed to foster creative and scholarly innovation. At Radcliffe, participants are encouraged to rethink conventional approaches, explore new methodologies, and offer fresh perspectives on historical and contemporary issues.

Each year, the institute welcomes 50 fellows who have already demonstrated significant accomplishments in their respective domains and who show strong potential for future contributions. Fellows participate in regular gatherings to exchange ideas and workshop their ongoing projects. They form supportive intellectual networks and engage in social activities that strengthen community ties. As part of their fellowship, they gain access to Harvard’s extensive resources—including libraries, archives, and professional enrichment programs.

In addition to research support, fellows have opportunities to collaborate with Harvard undergraduates through the Radcliffe Research Partnership Program. In this initiative, students assist with various elements of the fellows’ work—such as conducting background research, offering feedback on manuscripts, and brainstorming new project directions—thereby creating a mutually enriching experience.

The program welcomes candidates from all over the world, and Harvard usually facilitates J-1 visa sponsorships for international scholars. Eligibility criteria differ by discipline but generally include a strong record of professional output and academic or creative achievements. Creative professionals must demonstrate sustained artistic practice and recognition in their field, while applicants in science, social science, and humanities are expected to have completed a terminal degree several years prior and have a solid publication history.

Beyond a competitive stipend, the fellowship also offers funds to support research-related expenses and relocation costs. Fellows are provided dedicated workspace in Byerly Hall, situated in the Radcliffe Yard, and are granted full-time visiting fellow appointments at Harvard. They enjoy access to university facilities, including gyms and libraries, and can employ Harvard undergraduate research assistants, whose wages are covered by the program. Fellows also take part in numerous professional development activities throughout the academic year, enhancing both their work and their broader engagement with the Harvard community.
