The Global Conference of Children & Youth (COY) is a flagship initiative under YOUNGO that is dedicated to empowering young people and ensuring their voices are represented in the UNFCCC processes, helping shape international climate policies. This annual gathering is built around four core elements: developing a comprehensive policy document, strengthening knowledge through capacity-building sessions, offering practical skill-development workshops, and fostering cultural exchange among participants from different backgrounds.

In 2025, COY20 will be hosted in Brazil, just days before the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30). As the largest and most influential youth-focused conference tied to the UN climate process, COY acts as a vital platform to equip children and young people for active participation at COP. It also serves as the channel through which youth perspectives and recommendations—compiled from global inputs—are formally presented during climate negotiations through the Global Youth Statement on Climate Justice.

This announcement serves as an open invitation for volunteers to join the COY20 Global Affairs Unit. The application process has a short window, with the call shared on social media beginning August 11, 2025, and closing on August 17, 2025. Applications will be reviewed by August 18, followed by email notifications to selected applicants on August 28. Details for the onboarding session will be confirmed at a later date.
