Applications are now open for the 2025 International Civil Society Week (ICSW) Journalist Fellowship. Reporters from across the globe are encouraged to apply for this newly established program, which offers the chance to attend ICSW. The event will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 1 to 5 November 2025, and is organized by the CIVICUS global civil society alliance together with the Asia Democracy Network (ADN). ICSW represents the largest gathering of civil society representatives worldwide, attracting thousands of activists and advocates. CIVICUS itself is a coalition of over 15,000 members spanning more than 175 countries.

The fellowship program is divided into two streams: the Journalist Fellowship and the Young Journalist Fellowship. A select group of 15 to 20 journalists from different countries will be chosen to participate. The Journalist Fellowship welcomes professionals of any age who have a proven interest in civic engagement and human rights, along with a strong portfolio of published work. The Young Journalist Fellowship is specifically designed for reporters under 30, including citizen journalists and those active on digital platforms covering rights-related issues with high audience engagement.

Selected fellows will have their travel expenses covered by CIVICUS to attend ICSW in Bangkok. During the event, they will have the opportunity to meet and interview civil society leaders and activists from various regions of the world. In addition to participating in the conference and networking events, including a special reception for fellows, participants are expected to produce and publish at least two pieces, in any format, highlighting ICSW and the state of civic freedoms based on their experiences and reporting throughout the week.
