Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UBC is open to young, academically talented individuals from Sub-Saharan African countries who have completed a Bachelor’s degree and do not already hold a Master’s or PhD. Applicants must be 35 years old or younger at the time of application and demonstrate leadership potential, a commitment to their communities, and the ability to overcome significant challenges. Candidates must meet the academic requirements of their chosen graduate program and, if their previous education was not in English, provide proof of English proficiency through tests such as TOEFL or IELTS. Applicants must also be able to obtain a Canadian study permit and intend to return to their home countries after completing their studies.
