REMOTE PAID INTERNSHIP : Apply for the Youth in Landscapes Internship – Global Opportunity for Young Environmental Leaders (2026)

Young people passionate about climate action, sustainable development, and community-led environmental solutions now have the chance to join one of the world’s leading networks dedicated to restoring landscapes and advancing global sustainability.

The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) has opened applications for its 2026 Youth in Landscapes Internship programme—an initiative designed to elevate youth leadership and support early-career professionals who want to make a meaningful contribution to people and the planet.

About the Global Landscapes Forum

Created in 2013 by CIFOR-ICRAF with support from partners such as UNEP, the World Bank and the Government of Germany, the GLF has grown into the world’s largest knowledge-driven platform for sustainable land use, restoration and landscape management. With millions of people engaged across 185+ countries, GLF connects governments, researchers, practitioners, Indigenous communities, youth networks and activists working toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Agreement, and the Global Biodiversity Framework.

About the Internship

The 2026 GLF Internship Programme offers young practitioners and students the opportunity to contribute to global sustainability efforts while developing their professional skills. Internships are fully remote and designed around each candidate’s strengths, learning interests and career goals. Interns work alongside the GLF’s international teams, supporting global movements for restoration, climate justice and community action.

Available Roles

Two internship positions are open under the Youth in Landscapes Initiative (YIL):

1. Communications & Outreach

Ideal for candidates interested in youth advocacy, climate storytelling, digital campaigns and public engagement.
Responsibilities include content creation, social media communication, and supporting youth-led outreach efforts.

2. Global Scope & Program Facilitation

Focused on supporting the Restoration Stewards Programme across Africa, Asia and Latin America & the Caribbean.
Tasks include knowledge management, youth network coordination, and helping facilitate international learning journeys.

Internship Terms

  • Duration: Up to 9 months (Feb–Dec 2026)

  • Work Format: Fully remote

  • Compensation: Paid, with stipend levels determined according to location and CIFOR-ICRAF policies

  • Time Zones: Applicants worldwide are welcome; priority considered for UTC to UTC+3 for coordination

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should be between 18–35 years old and currently enrolled in or recently graduated from programmes such as:

Social or Political Sciences

International Development

Environmental Education

Or related fields

Strong communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to work independently in a digital, multicultural environment are essential. Experience with outreach, youth networks, community projects, digital tools (Canva, Trello, WordPress), and social media is considered an advantage.
