Applications are open for the CivicHive CivicTech Fellowship Program 2026, a fully funded 20-week fellowship designed to support early-stage civic-tech innovators across West Africa. The fellowship targets individuals and teams building technology-driven solutions that address pressing social, governance, and public-interest challenges. Through a structured programme that combines mentorship, technical assistance, funding support, and regional exposure, CivicHive aims to strengthen civic participation, transparency, accountability, and service delivery across the region. Fellows are supported to refine their solutions, prepare for launch or scaling, and connect with a growing ecosystem of civic-tech leaders.

Program Benefits

Selected fellows receive comprehensive support throughout the fellowship period, including mentorship from experienced civic-tech professionals, technical, product, and legal support to strengthen their solutions, and access to a regional network of innovators and partners. Fellows also receive a monthly stipend to support their participation in the programme, as well as guidance to prepare their solutions for launch or early scaling. In addition, participants benefit from a fully funded trip to attend the West Africa Civic Tech Conference, where they can showcase their work, learn from peers, and connect with key stakeholders in the civic-tech ecosystem.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be individual innovators or part of a team working on a civic-tech solution that has already been tested or has been operational for a period of one to three years. The programme is intended for early-stage solutions that demonstrate clear progress, relevance, and potential for impact. Eligible innovations should align with thematic areas such as responsible use of artificial intelligence for social good, low-cost climate technologies, digital tools for health, education, justice, advocacy, and civic engagement. Applicants must also demonstrate a strong commitment to public interest values and be available to fully participate in all fellowship activities throughout the programme duration.
