Applications are open for the AU Digital & Innovation Fellowship, a fully funded 12‑month immersive program that empowers talented young African innovators to work within African Union (AU) institutions to co‑develop digital and data‑driven solutions that strengthen public service delivery, governance systems, and institutional capacity across the continent. Implemented by enpact with support from the GIZ DataCipation program on behalf of the African Union, the fellowship offers professional development, international exposure, and substantial financial support as fellows contribute to Africa’s digital transformation.

Program Benefits
Selected fellows receive a comprehensive support package throughout the 12‑month fellowship. This includes a monthly stipend of €2,500 to support living expenses, an equipment allowance of up to €800, and an individual learning budget of €500 for professional development. Fellows also gain structured capacity building and professional development, hands‑on experience working with AU staff on digital transformation projects, continental exposure through bootcamps in Addis Ababa, and a mid‑term delegation trip to Germany for international networking and learning. 
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the AU Digital & Innovation Fellowship, applicants must be citizens of an African Union member state and currently residing in Africa, with strong backgrounds in technology, data, or digital innovation. Candidates must be under 35 years old at the time of application, hold a tertiary education degree (bachelor’s or equivalent), and demonstrate problem‑solving skills and experience in technology‑driven projects. Fellows must be available to dedicate 12 months to the program, including relocating to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and be willing to travel for bootcamps and related fellowship activities. Proficiency in English is required, and knowledge of other AU official languages (such as French, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, or Swahili) is strongly encouraged. The fellowship actively encourages applications from women, persons with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups to foster equity and inclusive innovation across Africa. 
Eligible Countries
This opportunity is open only to citizens and residents of African Union member states. Applicants must be living in an AU member country at the time of application and meet the eligibility requirements outlined by the program.
