Applications are now open for BlueInvest Africa 2026, a flagship initiative supported by the European Union that connects African startups with global investors and industry leaders in the blue economy sector. The fourth edition of the event will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, in November 2026, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem partners to accelerate sustainable ocean-based solutions across Africa.
BlueInvest Africa has already supported more than 80 innovative companies and facilitated connections with dozens of investors since its launch. The programme aims to strengthen Africa’s blue economy ecosystem by showcasing scalable, impact-driven ventures working in marine and coastal sectors.
Focus Areas and Impact
The programme supports solutions aligned with sustainable development goals, including climate action, responsible consumption, clean energy, marine conservation, and economic growth. Eligible projects may span areas such as marine biotechnology, coastal protection, renewable energy, shipbuilding, maritime services, circular economy initiatives, tourism innovation, and ocean data technologies.
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel of experts based on innovation, business model, team strength, impact potential, and alignment with sustainability goals. Finalists will be invited to showcase their projects during the November 2026 event.
