Applications are open for the Global Powers, Local Realities Fellowship 2026, an initiative by the taz Panter Stiftung aimed at empowering young journalists and media professionals from Africa. This unique fellowship focuses on exploring the theme of Africa’s future in the context of global power dynamics, self-determination, and socio-political transformation. Through this programme, selected fellows will engage in critical discussions, collaborative learning, and in-depth reporting on how global influences shape local realities across African countries. The fellowship provides a platform for participants to strengthen their journalistic skills, expand their international networks, and contribute meaningful perspectives to global conversations about Africa’s development and autonomy.

Additional Information
In addition to the training component, fellows will benefit from networking opportunities with international journalists, editors, and experts, enabling them to build valuable professional connections. The fellowship may also cover travel, accommodation, and participation costs for programme-related activities, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent talented individuals from taking part. Overall, the experience equips fellows with the tools and exposure needed to produce high-quality, impactful journalism that contributes to informed public discourse.
In addition to professional experience, applicants must be citizens and residents of one of the eligible African countries specified by the programme. These countries include Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Applicants should also be willing to fully participate in all fellowship activities, collaborate with peers from different countries, and contribute to discussions and publications generated during the programme.
