FULLY FUNDED: Apply For The ITU Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme 2026–2027 (in partnership with Huawei)

Applications are open for the Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme, a prestigious global fellowship organized by the International Telecommunication Union in partnership with Huawei. This programme is designed to empower young digital leaders who are passionate about using technology to create meaningful impact in their communities.

The fellowship supports innovative, community-driven digital development projects and provides selected participants with mentorship, training, and funding to bring their ideas to life. Each year, 30 young leaders from around the world are selected to join this highly competitive programme and contribute to building a more inclusive digital future.

Program Benefits
Selected fellows receive a comprehensive support package that includes leadership training, mentorship, and global networking opportunities. The programme includes year-long virtual training sessions as well as participation in a global in-person development week held in Geneva, Switzerland, where fellows engage with experts and fellow innovators. 

Each fellow is awarded an initial grant of USD 5,000 to implement their digital development project. At the end of the programme, the most impactful projects may receive an additional USD 5,000, bringing the total possible funding to USD 10,000. 

Beyond financial support, participants gain international exposure, hands-on project experience, and access to a global network of young leaders, significantly boosting their career and impact potential.
Eligibility Criteria
The programme is open to young individuals from all countries worldwide who are passionate about digital transformation and social impact. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 28 at the time of application and should either be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a tertiary education institution, particularly in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) or related fields. 

Candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong interest in developing and implementing a digital project that addresses real-world challenges such as education, healthcare, climate change, or economic inclusion. The programme values applicants who show leadership potential, innovation, and a clear commitment to improving their communities through technology.

In addition, applicants must be able to communicate effectively in English, as it is the primary language used throughout the programme. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to engage in a global network of young changemakers are also essential.
Eligible Countries
This programme is open globally, meaning applicants from all countries are eligible. Participants in previous cohorts have come from over 150 countries across all regions, including Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
