Applications are now open for volunteers to support the 2026 World Food Forum (WFF) Flagship Event, which will take place from 8–16 October 2026 at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Headquarters in Rome, Italy.
The event will bring together global leaders, researchers, policymakers, innovators, youth, and development partners under the theme "Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow."
This volunteer opportunity is designed for individuals based in Rome, Italy, who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in organizing a high-level international event while contributing to discussions on the future of sustainable agrifood systems. Volunteers will play an active role in supporting sessions, workshops, exhibitions, meetings, and other event activities across the Forum's key pillars: Global Youth Action, Science and Innovation, and the Hand-in-Hand Initiative.
Participants will have the opportunity to expand their professional networks, collaborate with experts and fellow volunteers from around the world, and gain valuable experience in international event management. The programme also provides exposure to global conversations on food security, innovation, agriculture, and sustainable development.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Selected volunteers may be assigned to:
- Support conference sessions, workshops, exhibitions, and meetings.
- Assist with participant registration and event coordination.
- Provide logistical and operational support throughout the event.
- Help facilitate networking and engagement activities.
- Contribute to the smooth delivery of World Food Day and other flagship activities.

- Please note: This is a voluntary position. The World Food Forum does not provide financial support for travel, accommodation, visas, or related expenses.
- Be based in Rome, Italy during the event period.
- Be available between 12–16 October 2026, with additional availability from 8–11 October 2026 for pre-event preparations considered an advantage.
- Be able to attend an in-person volunteer orientation on 9 October 2026 at FAO Headquarters.
- Demonstrate proficiency in English. Knowledge of another UN official language is considered an asset.
- Have an interest in agrifood systems, youth engagement, science, innovation, or sustainable development.
