Applications are now open for the Y-ACT Regional Youth Steering Committee (YSC) 2026–2028, offering young leaders across Africa and the African Diaspora an opportunity to help shape youth-led advocacy, partnerships, and programmes at the continental level.
The Youth Steering Committee (YSC) serves as Y-ACT’s strategic advisory body, providing guidance on the organization's priorities, advocacy agenda, partnerships, and programme direction. The committee ensures that Y-ACT’s work remains responsive to the needs and aspirations of young people across Africa.
About the Opportunity
The 2026–2028 committee will consist of six young leaders, including one representative from each of Africa's five sub-regions:
- North Africa
- West Africa
- Central Africa
- East Africa
- Southern Africa
In addition, one representative will be selected from the African Diaspora. Successful applicants will serve a two-year term, contributing strategic advice that supports youth-centered policies and initiatives across the continent.
Responsibilities
Members of the Regional Youth Steering Committee will:
- Provide strategic guidance on Y-ACT's programmes and priorities.
- Contribute to youth-led advocacy and policy engagement.
- Support the development of partnerships that strengthen youth participation.
- Ensure the perspectives and experiences of young people inform organizational decision-making.
- Represent the interests of young people from their respective regions.
About Y-ACT
Founded in 2017 within Amref Health Africa, Y-ACT is a youth-led movement that empowers young people through training, mentorship, coaching, coalition-building, and advocacy. The organization works to strengthen youth leadership and promote meaningful participation in policy processes across Africa.
Young leaders with a passion for advocacy, policy, and youth development are encouraged to apply and contribute to strengthening youth voices and leadership across Africa through the Y-ACT Regional Youth Steering Committee.
