VOLUNTEER ROLE; Apply for the Digital Health Africa (DHA) Country Lead Programme 2026

Applications are now open for the Digital Health Africa (DHA) Country Lead Programme, an opportunity for passionate individuals across Africa to take on a volunteer leadership role while contributing to the growth of digital health ecosystems in their respective countries.

Digital Health Africa is a digital health intelligence, media, and capacity-building platform focused on advancing the future of healthcare through data, research, innovation, storytelling, and skills development. Through initiatives such as the DHA Virtual Internship Programme and Health Innovation Bootcamps, the platform supports young professionals and emerging leaders with practical knowledge, career opportunities, and connections within Africa’s growing digital health sector.

As part of its continued expansion across the continent, DHA is seeking motivated individuals to serve as Country Leads and represent the platform within their countries. Selected Country Leads will play an important role in building local DHA communities, increasing awareness of digital health opportunities, engaging universities and students, identifying potential partnerships, and helping connect professionals, innovators, researchers, and other stakeholders within the sector.

Country Leads may also support the organisation of local events, webinars, networking sessions, and other community activities. They will have opportunities to share insights, developments, success stories, and emerging trends from their countries while contributing to efforts aimed at strengthening Africa’s digital health workforce.

The programme is open to individuals from a wide range of professional and academic backgrounds. Applications are encouraged from digital health and healthcare professionals, recent graduates, researchers, entrepreneurs, innovators, academics, public health professionals, health informaticians, policymakers, and community leaders. Applicants do not necessarily need to be at an advanced stage of their careers; what matters is a genuine interest in digital health, leadership, community building, and contributing to the development of the sector in their country and across Africa.

Selected Country Leads will gain practical leadership experience and receive official recognition for their role. They will also have access to DHA learning opportunities and events, increased visibility through DHA platforms, and opportunities to represent the organisation at relevant conferences, meetings, and other engagements. Country Leads may receive priority consideration for funded opportunities that become available, while also gaining the chance to build relationships with digital health professionals and leaders from across Africa. Additional benefits include certificates, letters of recognition, and references or endorsements where appropriate.

This is a volunteer opportunity designed for individuals who want to take an active role in shaping the future of digital health while developing their leadership experience, professional network, and visibility within the African digital health ecosystem.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications and become part of the Digital Health Africa community as a Country Lead.
