MTN Foundation Changemakers Project 2026 – Call for Applications
The MTN Foundation has opened applications for the third phase of its Changemakers Project, an initiative launched under the MTN @25 programme to support individuals and organisations working to create meaningful change in communities across Uganda. The programme is inspired by everyday Ugandans who are taking action to address challenges within their communities and seeks to help turn promising community ideas into practical solutions.
The Changemakers Project supports initiatives that respond to important community needs while contributing to improved livelihoods, economic growth and the overall quality of life of beneficiaries. Selected projects will receive support through in-kind donations rather than cash grants, meaning successful applicants will not receive direct cash payments.
To qualify, projects should generally align with the MTN Foundation’s priority areas, including economic empowerment, education, health, agriculture, water and the environment. Preference will be given to initiatives that can deliver sustainable or lasting benefits, address a clearly identified community or societal challenge, and demonstrate the ability to create measurable and direct improvements in the lives of beneficiaries.
Applicants are also expected to demonstrate meaningful engagement with the communities and stakeholders connected to their projects. Projects should involve relevant local leaders and demonstrate strong community participation, transparency and collaboration. Where possible, initiatives should also establish effective working relationships between MTN, development partners and government institutions.
The programme is open to Ugandans aged 18 years and above who wish to submit projects intended to benefit their communities anywhere in Uganda. Applicants with criminal records are not eligible to participate. Proposed projects must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in Uganda.
For a project to be considered, it must be achievable within a maximum implementation value of UGX 20 million and should be completed within three months. Applicants should also demonstrate how they intend to maximise the value of the available support by leveraging existing resources and partnerships.
Projects that require more than UGX 20 million to implement or would take longer than three months to complete will not be considered under the programme. The selection criteria may also be reviewed and adjusted by the MTN Foundation from time to time.
Applications for the Changemakers Project Phase 3 are open from 1 September to 30 September 2026. This provides individuals and organisations with an opportunity to put forward community-focused initiatives capable of creating sustainable and positive change in Uganda.
Application Deadline: 30 September 2026
Important: The Changemakers Project provides in-kind support only. No cash donations will be provided to successful applicants.
