FUNDED: Apply for this African Epidemic Service – Epidemiology Track Fellowship Program 2023

Applications are currently open for the 2023 African Epidemic Service (AES) - Epidemiology Track Fellowship Program. This program, established by Africa CDC and directed by the African Union, aims to enhance the disease prevention and response capabilities of African Union member states. The fellowship is a two-year competency-based applied epidemiology training program with both classroom and applied training components.

**Fellowship Details:**
- Two-year training in applied epidemiology.
- Three months of classroom training in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
- 21 months of applied training within an African Union Member State.
- Training conducted in various African Union languages.
- Experiential learning includes data analysis, surveillance system evaluation, and outbreak investigation.
- Fellows will be mentored by experienced public health professionals.

**Funding:**
- Africa CDC covers all training and development costs.
- This includes travel expenses, stipends, hardware, and insurance.
- Support for relevant software and internet connectivity is provided for online learning.

**Eligibility:**
Applicants must:
- Be citizens of an African Union Member State.
- Be employed in an African country at the time of application with government institution permission to attend the two-year training.
- Hold a graduate degree in human medicine, veterinary medicine, or another doctoral-level field related to public health.
- Possess an MPH or equivalent degree with coursework in epidemiology or quantitative research methods.
- Have at least three years of recent full-time postgraduate public health experience in an African country.
- Demonstrate functional knowledge of any African Union working language and the ability to read and write technical medical and epidemiological texts.

**Application:**
- All applications must be submitted online.
- Required documents include a national passport, official letter of support, letters of recommendation, transcripts, evidence of recent full-time public health postgraduate experience in an African country, curriculum vitae, motivation statement, and optional evidence of additional relevant qualifications. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
