FULLY FUNDED : Apply for the summer fellowship at Vienna Biocenter Summer School in Austria
A fully financed summer fellowship in Austria focused on research is offered by the Vienna Biocenter Summer School 2023. Extraordinary and nimble students can study life sciences in one of Europe's top research centres for nine weeks during the summer research programme, guided by some of the world's top mentors. Talented students who are excited about scientific discoveries focused on research and development can find a dynamic and lively scientific environment within the programme.
The VBC Austria seeks to bring together bright, talented individuals from around the world and place them in the most innovative scientific laboratories available, allowing them enough opportunity for development and progress.
The Vienna Biocenter's state-of-the-art facilities and newest technology are free to use during the 2024 Vienna Summer School. A faculty member is paired with a fellow to collaborate closely on a variety of research initiatives. Promising students get the opportunity to learn from notable individuals through this programme.
Through the Vienna Biocenter programme, undergraduate students can gain hands-on experience in molecular biology, neuroscience, immunology, bioinformatics, RNA, stem cells, and biochemistry at some of Europe's leading research institutions. The programme exposes students to cutting-edge research infrastructure and European culture through practical lab work, meetings, and journal clubs. Social gatherings, recommendations, and symposiums encourage student cooperation and teamwork. Participation in a two-day retreat outside of Vienna is suggested for PhD students. At a symposium held to wrap up the Biocenter summer school, researchers present their work and prizes are given out.

The VBC Summer School in Europe will accept applications starting on December 1, 2023, and ending on January 31, 2024.
Additional Information
- There will be a modern, well-furnished room with a communal kitchen and bathroom.
- A stipend of 1400 euros each participant will be given for a period of nine weeks.
- During the scholarship time, a complimentary travel pass will be awarded to each student.
- The whole cost of medical insurance will be paid.
- The whole cost of transportation to and from Vienna will be covered.
- Along with the traditional Friday evening social hours, students will enjoy an opening supper, tours to Heurigen, and visits to various locations throughout Vienna.
- Candidates may apply if they have completed at least two years of university coursework and hold a BA with honours, a master's degree, an MSc, or are undergraduate or graduate students.
- Life sciences must be the student's field of study.
- The candidate needs to have a strong academic background.
- The pupils' English proficiency is a must.
