Applications are open for the DESY Summer Student Program 2024 in Germany.
An eight-week training programme to explore research in one of the numerous topics DESY, Germany, pursues is offered to prospective summer students in 2024. Bachelor's degree holders, those pursuing a bachelor's degree soon, and those who have finished their bachelor's degree and are currently enrolled in master's degree programmes are all eligible to apply for the DESY Summer Students programme. The programme will be financed and the associated costs will be met by DESY.
Each summer DESY offers undergraduate students in physics or related disciplines the opportunity to obtain first-hand research experience at a large international laboratory. Students are invited for a 8 week training period to experience research in one of the various fields pursued at DESY:
- Photon science
- Elementary particle physics & Accelerators
- Astroparticle physic
Applications for the DESY Summer Student Programme need the uploading of a resume, two reference letters, and certifications at the university level. A work permit for Germany and a second PDF file containing an international passport and enrollment certificate are required for applicants who are not EU or EEA citizens.

Additional Information
- You will receive a formal invitation letter from DESY for visa purposes, along with a portion of your travel expenses from your home country to Germany and back. (Assisting those who need a visa in order to enter Germany)
-have the option to spend the entire programme term staying at the DESY Hostel at a discounted fee.
- Students who will be in the following two phases in the summer of 2024 are the primary target audiences:
- Their bachelor's degree is soon to be awarded to them.
- They are pursuing a master's degree and hold a bachelor's degree.
- Those who have earned a master's degree already or who plan to do so by the summer of 2024 will not be considered.
