Fully Funded : Apply for the John Lewis Young Leaders 2024 – 2025 fellowship in USA

Applications are open for the John Lewis Young Leaders 2024 - 2025 fellowship

Established in 2017, the John Lewis Young Leaders (JLYL) programme is a transformative undergraduate fellowship initiative that aims to provide students with the skills necessary to become effective leaders in civic participation and social justice. The initiative, which draws inspiration from the long friendship between John Lewis and Robert Kennedy, is dedicated to fostering the next wave of human rights advocates in order to create a future that is more just and equal.

Programme Synopsis

College students who participate in the year-long JLYL programme receive vital training for civic engagement and community organising. Via a thorough capstone project, fellows actively involve their campus and local communities in human rights activities. Workshops on grassroots organising, individualised mentorship from RFK Human Rights personnel, financial aid, and access to a vast network of human rights professionals, peers, and graduates are just a few of the resources provided by the programme.

Become a Fellow – What We're Seeking

Highly motivated students who want to work in organising are the target audience for the JLYL programme. The best candidates are independent thinkers who don't mind shaking things up and see themselves as human rights advocates who are determined to have a good influence. Students from underprivileged backgrounds who encounter structural obstacles that impede their ability to advocate for human rights are given priority.

Obligations

Participant expectations as a JLYL fellow include:

Attend the three-day JLYL retreat while setting up workshops.
Have one-on-one coaching sessions with RFK Human Rights staff once a month.
On the second Monday of every month, attend all cohort meetings.
Finalise a capstone presentation that outlines their project at the end of the fellowship.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is March 10, 2024, 11:59 pm EST.
