Environmental Photographer of the Year: The top prize will be given to a single image that advances knowledge of the factors contributing to environmental change and social injustice, sheds light on countermeasures to the ecological and climatic emergency, and motivates us to live sustainably. Along with a £5,000 cash award, the winner will also have a feature on WaterBear’s website, an interview in CIWEM’s Environment Magazine, and an article on Nikon Europe’s website.Nikon’s Young Environmental Photographer of the Year: This prize, presented in collaboration with Nikon, highlights the greatest environmental photography as seen through the eyes of budding photographers aged 21 and younger. The prize includes two NIKKOR Z lenses of the winner’s choice, a Z Series Mirrorless camera, an interview in CIWEM’s Environment Magazine, and a piece on the Waterbear and Nikon platforms.The following four categories each get an additional £1,000 in cash prizes: MPB Vision of the FutureRecovering NatureKeeping 1.5 AliveAdapting for Tomorrow

Professional and amateur photographers of all ages are eligible to compete for the title of Environmental Photographer of the Year.Photographers under the age of 21 are eligible for Nikon’s Young Environmental Photographer of the Year award.A maximum of three (3) photographs may be submitted by each participant.You may submit previously published images, however you may not submit images that have won a prize in a prior international photography contest.
