Applications are open for the Female Founders & Funders Program 2026, an initiative designed to support women entrepreneurs building innovative startups. The program is organized by Lagos Innovates, an initiative of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, in partnership with AfriGloCal Venture Capital.

The program aims to address the funding gap faced by women entrepreneurs by equipping female founders with the skills, mentorship, and networks required to scale their startups and attract investors. Through structured training, mentorship, and investor engagement, participants will learn how to refine their business models, improve their pitch decks, and strengthen their fundraising strategies. The initiative also connects participants with venture capitalists, angel investors, and other stakeholders within the startup ecosystem.

Program Benefits

Selected founders will participate in a six-week accelerator-style program that provides intensive training and mentorship aimed at strengthening their startups and preparing them for investment opportunities.

Participants will receive expert mentorship from experienced founders, investors, and industry leaders, who will provide personalized guidance on business growth, product development, and fundraising strategies. The program also offers investor readiness training, helping founders refine their pitch decks, financial models, and investor engagement strategies.

In addition, founders will gain access to a network of venture capitalists, angel investors, and corporate partners, increasing their chances of securing funding. The program concludes with an Investor Showcase (Demo Day) where participants pitch their startups to a curated audience of investors and ecosystem stakeholders.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be female founders or co-founders of innovative startups who are building solutions that address real market problems. The program is primarily designed for entrepreneurs who already have a working product or minimum viable product (MVP) and are ready to scale their businesses.

Eligible applicants should be operating or planning to operate their startups within Lagos State, Nigeria, as the initiative focuses on strengthening the Lagos innovation ecosystem. Participants are expected to demonstrate strong entrepreneurial commitment and a clear business vision.

Startups from technology-driven sectors such as FinTech, HealthTech, EdTech, AgriTech, Artificial Intelligence, and Climate Tech are especially encouraged to apply, although other innovative solutions may also be considered.

Eligible Countries

The Female Founders & Funders Program organized by Lagos Innovates is primarily open to entrepreneurs in Nigeria. Applicants must be female founders or co-founders of startups operating in Lagos State or planning to operate in Lagos, Nigeria.

This means the program is specifically designed to support the Lagos startup ecosystem, and participants are expected to actively build and grow their businesses within Lagos.
