Now accepting submissions is the 2024 Goi Peace Foundation International Essay Contest, an annual event designed to mobilize the enthusiasm, innovation, and drive of global youth toward fostering a culture of peace and sustainable progress.

The contest also seeks to encourage society to glean insights from youthful perspectives and contemplate ways in which each individual can contribute positively to the world.

Program Benefits

Within the Children's and Youth categories, the following honours will be given out:
First Place: Gift, Certificate, and Prize of 100,000 Yen (about US$660 as of February 2024)... 1 submission
Prize for Second Place: Gift, Certificate, and 50,000 Yen (about US$330 as of February 2024)... for 3 participants
3rd Place: Gift and certificate... 5 competitors
Award and gift for Honourable Mention: 25 participants
* Those who place first through third will receive invitations to the online Winners Gathering. * There may be additional awards (such as the Best School Award or the School Incentive Award). The winners of each reward will be revealed on this website on October 31, 2024 (Japan time). January 2025 will see the victors get presents and certificates in the mail.

Eligibility Criteria

Essays must be submitted by June 15, 2024. Children (age 14) and youth (15–25) are the age groups. The essays must be typed, 1600 characters or less in Japanese, or 700 words or less in English or French, and submitted in either MS Word or PDF format. Essay collections can be submitted by educators and youth directors.
