The European Union (EU), through its Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, has allocated funding to support graduate students in African universities as part of the CREATE Green Africa Scholarship project.

In accordance with the MOU agreed by the partner schools and the EU, the CREATE Green Africa Scholarship will cover expenses such as tuition fees, 1230 € monthly stipends, application fees, student union, accommodations, student IDs, and travel costs.

CREATE Green Africa Scholarship Details:
Under the European Union's (EU) Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, funding has been allocated to support the training of graduate students in African universities through the “Climate Research and Education to Advance Green Development in Africa (CREATE-GreenAfrica)” project.

This initiative aims to enhance climate-related skills and qualifications across Africa by facilitating mobility and experience sharing. CREATE-GreenAfrica will play a crucial role in improving the knowledge and skills of students, trainees, consortium staff, and others in the areas of climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Between 2024 and 2028, a total of 35 Master's students and 12 PhD students will be trained in thematic areas such as:

- Environmental sustainability (including impact assessment, adaptation, and mitigation of climate variability and change)
- Climate and weather processes at local and global levels for accurate forecasting, prediction, and early warning
- Resilience of food production systems to the impacts of climate change and variability
- The nexus of gender, climate, and food systems, along with policies and institutions related to climate and development
- Climate change and water resources
- Collective action and natural resource management
- Ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change

The project will offer scholarships for full degree programs as well as short-term credit-seeking mobility opportunities for students.

Program Benefits
For PhD applicants and M.Sc. candidates, the scholarship offers a subsistence grant of 1230 € and 890 € per month, respectively. This will pay for the expense of the research, as well as travel, lodging, insurance, and food.

Insurance: Within the parameters of the grant, insurance coverage (health, travel, and accident) will be given for the period of the study.

Research contribution and tuition fees: In accordance with the MOU signed by the partner institutions and the EU, the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scholarship Scheme, CREATE-GreenAfrica, will cover costs such as tuition, application fees, student union dues, registration, caution money, student ID, and quality assurance fees.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the European Union Green Africa Scholarship, candidates must fulfil the subsequent requirements:

All eligible African citizens living in Africa at the time of application are eligible for the scholarships, which provide training in the host institutions for their respective programs in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa.

Note: Candidates may only apply to study at a university located outside of their nation of residence. We encourage applications from women and those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable. Every application will be treated with discretion.
