Apply for the fully funded 12-month North America Leadership 2025 – (All Countries)

A strong sense of belonging is fostered by an inclusive and diverse network, tools and strategies for enhancing voice, presence, and influence, and a supportive network of peers, mentors, and coaches for talented mid-career women leaders in global health. All of these benefits are provided by WomenLift Health's fully funded 12-month North America Leadership Journey.

The curriculum provides women leaders in global health with contextualised skills and frameworks to solve the societal, organisational, and personal issues they encounter.

Women leaders who value diversity, equity, and inclusion; who recognise the benefits of incorporating a range of lived experiences into policy and practice; and who are eager to give back to others in their organisation and community in addition to increasing their own leadership presence and influence would stand to gain the most from this program.

With the program's expansion from one to two concurrent North America Leadership Journeys last year, we were able to provide support to sixty outstanding mid-career women leaders from a range of global health sectors who were based in both Canada and the United States. They will continue to provide two cohorts of support for a total of sixty women leaders in the 2025–2026 program cycle this year. Thirty women leaders will make up each cohort, and they will take part in both solo and group activities all year long.

Components of the Expedition

Facilitated virtual group sessions serve as Virtual Learning Touchpoints. You will investigate leadership ideas, research, and tools in highly participatory workshops that centre on dynamic practice with your cohort. The touchpoints centre on your leadership projects, pertinent subjects and goals for global health leadership, and personal and professional development. You will be able to share and learn from one another throughout these sessions.

Online Coaching
Mentors and other strong allies are part of the network that supports effective women leaders. They select high-level executives from various fields, backgrounds, and health sectors to act as mentors for you and your cohort mates. Mentoring groups consist of one mentor and many cohort members who are matched based on their career paths and experiences. Throughout the Leadership Journey, you may count on your mentor as a technical and career resource.

Remote Mentoring
To effectively manage change and adjust to new obstacles, it is essential to have a personal leadership coach. You will be matched with an executive coach who will work one-on-one with you to develop your areas of strength and growth. These discussions will be informed and your awareness of your own leadership abilities will be improved by leadership style tests, such as a personalised "360-degree evaluation." You can choose which leadership abilities to prioritise, opening the door to becoming a more capable and successful leader, with the help of your coach's comments and encouragement.

Peers, mentors, and coaches work together to create a special and effective support system that can help you advance in your career by giving you advice on transformational leadership and business connections.

Personal Residency
A few months into the Leadership Journey, there is a three-day event called the Leadership Immersion. You and your cohort will improve your abilities, apply them to real-world instances, and consider lessons learnt through lively debates and practical exercises.
At the conclusion of the journey, the two-day Leadership Lift-Off event celebrates the growth of the cohort as you embark on a new chapter in your leadership journey. Members of the cohort will evaluate how their leadership has changed over the course of the year and present their Leadership Projects to peers and other leaders in global health.

Leadership Project

Through the Leadership Project, you will have the chance to plan and direct an endeavour that makes use of your knowledge, contacts, enthusiasm, and inventiveness.
After bringing a project concept to the Leadership Journey, participants work with their mentor, coach, and global health specialists to produce a theory of change, stakeholder analysis, and implementation strategy. The project's implementation starts in the second part of the Leadership Journey. Lastly, you will give a brief overview of the progress and initial results of your initiative at the Leadership Lift-Off event.
The project's implementation is expected to continue after the Leadership Journey concludes and need not be finished by then.
The Leadership Project has just four rules:
It ought to concentrate on enhancing results at the nexus of health and gender equality or use a gender lens to analyse a global health issue.
It ought to make use of your aptitude for leadership.
While it should be within your sphere of influence or control, it should also challenge you in ways that go beyond your regular job duties.
You ought to be enthusiastic about it.
The following four themes apply to leadership projects:
Putting women and girls at the centre of health Creating institutional transformation
enhancing the routes to leadership
constructing robust, integrated health systems
Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 31 July 2024.
