Apply for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Economist Program 2024-2025
The Economist Program (EP) at the IMF offers an excellent opportunity to kick-start your career by providing hands-on experience across various areas of IMF work. You will have the chance to apply your research and analytical skills to critical policy work that affects our 190 member countries. We are seeking young economists eager to make an impact on the global stage, bringing fresh economic perspectives and multidisciplinary approaches to help tackle major global economic challenges, including promoting global monetary cooperation, ensuring financial stability, enhancing international trade, boosting employment and sustainable growth, and reducing poverty.
What Would I Do
The Economist Program (EP) offers a comprehensive introduction to the IMF's work, providing a solid foundation for a stimulating and rewarding career as an economist. Over the course of the three-year program, you will complete two departmental rotations, where you will join teams focused on regional and country-specific economic surveillance, as well as areas like fiscal policy, monetary policy, balance of payments, or debt-related issues. This is not a trainee position—right from the start, you will take on real responsibilities and meaningful tasks as an IMF economist. Your work may involve policy development, operational work at the country or regional level, research, and capacity-building or teaching.
By the end of the program, we hope you'll share our enthusiasm for the IMF's mission and choose to pursue a long-term career with us.
Don't miss out on the application deadline which is December 6, 2024.
