Apply for the MOPGA 2025 Visiting Fellowship Program | Monthly allowance of 2,500 euros
France, as a key leader in the global effort against climate change and a defender of the Paris Agreement, is introducing a new MOPGA (Make Our Planet Great Again) Visiting Fellowship program aimed at bolstering scientific contributions to climate issues raised by the COPs.
This eighth call for MOPGA applications seeks to attract at least 60 early-career researchers to conduct research in France. The program is funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the French Ministry for Higher Education and Research, and is managed by Campus France.
The MOPGA 2025 Visiting Fellowship Program is designed for early-career researchers working on the themes specified in the "Research Themes" section.
Project submission requirements (in English or French):
- Project title
- Six keywords
- Project abstract (up to 2,000 characters)
- Context and motivation (up to 2,000 characters)
- Scientific objectives (up to 2,000 characters)
- Methodology and timeline (up to 4,500 characters)
- Position of the project within the MOPGA scientific domain (up to 2,000 characters)
- Collaborations or impacts for the applicant's country of origin or residence related to the project (up to 2,000 characters)
Research themes include:
1. Earth systems
2. Climate change and sustainability
3. Energy transition
4. Societal challenges of environmental issues
5. Health of humans, animals, and ecosystems under a "One Health" approach.
Selection process:
The selection will occur in two phases. First, scientific experts will evaluate the applications. Then, an international committee will select the final fellows.
Required documents:
- CV (maximum 4 pages, including publication list).
- PhD diploma or certificate.
- CV of the French research supervisor (max. 2 pages).
- Letter of support from the French host institution.
- Up to 3 recommendation letters.
- Passport or proof of identity.
**Timeline:**
- Application opens: September 5th, 2024.
- Application deadline: December 5th, 2024.
- Results announced: May 2025.
- Fellowship start: Between September and December 2025.
Additional Information
- Monthly stipend of €2,500.
- Relocation allowance of €500.
- Health insurance (including civil liability and repatriation assistance) until registration with French Social Security.
- Complementary health insurance once registered with French Social Security.
- A hosting agreement will be established between the fellow and their host institution to define the resources and support provided for the research.
- Must have earned a PhD after December 2019 and before December 2024.
- Applicants must not have lived in France for more than 90 days between September 5th and December 5th, 2024.
