Apply for the Shine Program 2024

Applications are now accepted for the Shine Program, run by the Swiss Re Foundation and BOOKBRIDGE, which aims to assist the next generation of social innovators in turning their concepts and ideas into scalable business models that will have the greatest possible social effect.

The organization seeks to provide assistance to nascent entrepreneurs tackling obstacles in the domains of natural hazard and climate risk management (encompassing climate smart agriculture, disaster risk reduction, and net zero transformation through the utilization of renewable energy, afforestation, and recycling), as well as access to health (encompassing healthy nutrition).

During a five-month immersive nurture program, the chosen social entrepreneur will work with corporate experts, leadership, and business coaches to develop a financially viable and scalable business plan that can make a real social impact.

The applicant's impact areas must align with Swiss Re Foundation's strategic areas, including net-zero transition, healthy nutrition, health access, climate-smart agriculture, disaster risk reduction, and coastal resilience.

The Shine team will participate in an approved Action Learning Programme led by BOOKBRIDGE with the goal of identifying problem areas, interacting with target audiences, creating prototypes, and creating a workable business strategy. A prize of R50,000 and the Swiss Re's Social Innovator Award will be given to the winner. For a period of two years, the Foundation will keep an eye on the social enterprise's development and viability to guarantee stability and expansion.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 15 February 2024.
