Applications are now open for the 64th edition of the United Nations Information Service’s Graduate Study Programme. Recognized as the UN’s longest-running educational initiative, this programme has welcomed nearly 3,500 participants from over 120 nations throughout its 63-year history. It offers young scholars an intensive two-week learning experience designed to broaden their knowledge of the UN system and the wider ecosystem of “International Geneva.” Through a mix of expert talks, collaborative projects, institutional visits, and networking opportunities, participants gain deeper insight into global governance and international cooperation.

The upcoming session will take place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, from 29 June to 10 July 2026, and will focus on the theme “AI and Emerging Technologies: Realities, Risks and Opportunities.” During these two weeks, students will engage with specialists, take part in group work, attend presentations, and visit key organizations involved in shaping the future of artificial intelligence and technological innovation. The programme aims to help participants understand how the UN and its partner institutions navigate the fast-changing landscape of new and emerging technologies.

The opportunity is open to graduate students between the ages of 22 and 32 who are currently enrolled in a master’s or equivalent programme, are not employed full time, and can communicate fluently in spoken and written English. Candidates are evaluated on academic performance, extracurricular or professional involvement, motivation, and the strength of their recommendation letter. The selection committee also strives for balanced regional and gender representation. Due to the high number of applications, their decisions are final and individual feedback will not be provided.

Although there is no participation fee, selected students must cover the full cost of their travel, accommodation, meals, visa arrangements, and any other personal expenses. Applicants are required to submit a one-page CV, a motivation video not exceeding sixty seconds, a one-page recommendation letter, a copy of their passport or national ID (for EU/EFTA citizens), proof of current enrolment in a graduate programme, and their bachelor’s degree certificate.
